BladeLogic, Inc. (Nasdaq: BLOG), a leading provider of next-generation data center automation software, announced today that it will host a webinar on Thursday, March 6th, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. (ET) entitled, "Top 10 Management Principles that Lead to IT Operational Excellence."

In an environment where business is dependent on IT more than ever before, operational excellence is critical in order to achieve consistent results. It is not enough to know what IT must do to optimize business value. Rather, IT organizations must also be able to consistently deliver at a level of predictable performance that enables the business to achieve its strategic objectives.

In this webinar, Kurt Milne, Managing Director, IT Process Institute, will review the top ten management principles IT organizations can implement to achieve IT operational excellence.

MPs must thwart the dark plans of the state

But does this support the argument for a mandatory database? Clearly not, because the damage done to the liberty and privacy of 60 million people would be out of proportion to any gain, to say nothing of the administrative nightmare of collecting everyone's DNA and the flaws already in the system, which are obscured by the police and the Home Office.

The DNA database is not a perfect weapon. Last year 1,500 administrative mistakes were discovered and at least 100 inaccuracies pertaining to individuals. That means there is a real possibility of people being convicted of crimes they did not commit. Given the chaotic state of government databases, it must be obvious even to Salter and Davies that administrative errors would be vastly increased if the database were to be expanded by a factor of about 13, from 4.5m to 60m.

Mike Smith, lead singer for Dave Clark Five, dies

Although the Beatles were the most popular of the British Invasion bands of the 1960s, the Dave Clark Five claimed a string of U.S. chart-topping hits, many of them co-written by Smith and Clark, including "Because," "Glad All Over," "Any Way You Want It" and "I Like It Like That."

The band made 12 appearances on Ed Sullivan's variety show, the most for any British act.

The group was founded by Clark, who played drums, in 1958. Smith was not an original member. He joined in 1961 as keyboardist, lead singer and the band's most recognizable face.

Smith was born in London on Dec. 12, 1943. He began studying classical music at age 5 and was admitted to Trinity Music College in London at 13.

After the demise of the band in the early 1970s, Clark and Smith continued to release singles as Dave Clark & Friends until 1973.

Hominy & Hash

SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- There's no question our language changed with the advent of the computer. Where our parents had an address and telephone number, we now have an address, telephone number, cell phone number, web address (or, in the vernacular, a dotcom) an e-mail address and a "nick," which is how you're identified for instant messaging.

Thirty years ago, citizen band two-way radios were the rage and along with our CB radio we had to register our "handle." My handle was "Rag Mop," and if that gives you a visual, well, you're probably right.

All of those identifiers are something you set for yourself according to how you see yourself or how you want to present yourself. We recently went all wireless at home and the final selling point was that we could keep our own phone number.

Electoracle/New Jersey Democrats see nothing to fear in Nader

Jeff Van Drew, D-Cape May, Cumberland, Atlantic."He's not new. He's not fresh. He's not different," Van Drew said. "He's been around for a long time, and he's not what people are looking for."Party spokesman McGrath said he doubts Democrats will criticize Nader for running because it's his right. According to the state Division of Elections, Nader needs to submit a petition containing 800 signatures by July 28 to get onto the New Jersey ballot. But don't expect too many rank-and-file Democrats to sign up for Nader, 74, and his running mate, Matt Gonzales, of San Francisco. Nader made it onto the ballot in only 34 states in 2004. Several Democrats said fewer and fewer people want to waste their votes on him."There isn't a real lot left of his reputation. And I think he diminishes it a tiny bit more every time runs," Van Drew said. It's quite a change in opinion about a man who used to be a hero for liberals and progressives.Shooting blanksAn embarrassing video of Republican U.S.

POLITICS-US: Anti-War Marches Draw Hundreds of Thousands

Like many speakers at the rally, Mason expressed disappointment that so far the Democratic Congress' opposition to George W. Bush's Iraq policy has shown itself mainly in the drafting of non-binding resolutions against his troop surge. For his part, Bush has rebuffed those efforts.

"I'm the decision maker," Bush said Friday. "I've picked the plan that I think is most likely to succeed... I know there is scepticism and pessimism and that some are condemning a plan before it's even had a chance to work."

Like other speakers at Saturday's rally, trade unionist Fred Mason said Bush's intransigence means Congress should immediately cut funding for the U.S. occupation of Iraq.

"The American people don't want a surge in the violence and the deadly risk to their loved ones associated with this president's wrong-headed approach," he said.

Pro-Life Activists Arrested at Cypress College for 3rd Time

CYPRESS, Calif., Feb. 22 /Christian Newswire/ -- On February 21, 2008, Cypress College in California once again unlawfully arrested pro-life activists for being outside the school's "free speech zone." From the time of their arrival on campus, members of the pro-life group Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust quietly held signs, distributed literature and dialogued with students about abortion, but because they refused to be confined to an area, they were arrested for failing to leave private property not open to the general public (trespassing). "How educated police officers and college administration can claim that a public school is private property is beyond me. Then they make a mockery of free speech by providing inadequate 'zones' in which they allow First Amendment rights to occur." says Kortney Blythe, Director of Campus Life Tours (CLT) for Survivors.

WHEN FILA AND POLO MUSIC COLLIDE: A sports/lifestyle brand and ...

Hurricane Chris' first single 'A Bay Bay' became one of the most popular ring tones in the United States in 2007. The times they are a changin

Imagine that Egypt, once a major wheat producer, is now importing wheat from the US. Why? Because that’s what foreign powers dictate. So instead of sponsoring our own farmers, we’re sponsoring American farmers,” El-Oksori shouts, his eyes bulging.

“Nasser had the courage to say no to the foreign powers when it involved the future of something as major as the High Dam. Now, we can’t say no to the minor things. I’m not siding with Nasser, I’m siding with an ideology: the dignity of a nation. But don’t get me wrong! We believe in the private and public sector alike, but the private sector should fall under the supervision of the public sector, it should produce basic commodities we need, like the bread loaf, not Chipsy [the popular brand of potato chips].”

El-Oksori, whose slogan is “Rebuilding the Egyptian Citizen,” is the first to admit that “some people would groan that I’m taking them back to the old days of Socialism.
