| Has reaction to the Archbishop's Sharia law comments been Islamophobic ...
I was schocked when I viewed the BBC 2-minute video summary on the Internet portraying, I think only 20 seconds after the explanation had started, a black man lashing a young person in front of a crowd of black children who looked dismayed. Why that? Why not try and have a think about what the Archbishop meant? I think the whole reaction is so really stupid. I am convinced that the archbishop is a thoughtful man however, if he is so thoughtful, could he not guess that his remarks would be misconstrued and that the same bad images of Islam and so-called Islamic law being implemented wherever ( real Islamic law is implemented NOWHERE at all and I know what I am talking about) would just come up AGAIN and AGAIN? I dont know but if even somebody like me could figure this out , he could have too, and therefore I am pondering about the significance and relevance of this declaration.
87th Tour de France - Grand Tour
Drama was rife on the final climb of the 2000 Tour De France, the Col de Joux-Plane today, as Maillot Jaune Lance Armstrong (USPS) had a bad case of the bonk with 22km to go, as the steep climb began. He was dropped by Virenque and a resurgent Jan Ullrich, while Richard Virenque (Polti), warmed by the summer sun, charged ahead to win the stage. Armstrong was visibly in trouble as the tough ascent started; his usually impeccable form had deteriorated to swaying shoulders and bobbing head as the tough Texan struggled to stay in contact with the front of the race. So why did Armstrong crack? "The problem was a bonk; I didn't eat enough and on the last climb I had no energy...", said Lance just after the stage finish. As the race went on and on across winding mountain roads, the race situation became ever more difficult for USPS to get bidons up to Lance, Kevin and Tyler.

CBS 60 Minutes to run Siegelman story on Sunday. On Sunday, CBS's 60 Minutes will air its long-awaited report on Alabama's incarcerated former governor Don Siegelman, reportedly one of its "best pieces of domestic expos journalism." Justice Department prosecutors opposed the Siegelman investigation, in which Bush administration political operatives - including Karl Rove - allegedly interfered. Must see TV. The second point harkened back to Obama's days in the Illinois state Senate, noting how his "pattern of voting 'present' offers many openings to question his candidacy." The third offered hope to the GOP faithful that "we can..." From San Diego's favorite son ... to spoilsport
The most intriguing at-bat of 2007 is leaking into 2008. You can sense it by the way a 25-year-old wannabe struts through his February workouts. You can sense it by the way a 40-year-old shoulder shrugs at the line of questioning. You can sense it by the way a Hall of Famer is uncomfortably stuck in the middle. And you can sense it by the way a filthy rich man stares into space. On Sept. 29, 2007, Tony Gwynn Jr., for all practical purposes, knocked Tony Gwynn Sr.'s team out of the playoffs. But it's much crueler than that. He did it with two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the ninth -- against his Uncle Trevor. He did it with the champagne on ice and the Colorado Rockies on life support. He did it against the franchise that clothed and fed him and against a fan base that, 81 days a year, walks down Tony Gwynn Drive to the turnstiles.
Exporters see rupee gaining against dollar
Yes Bank president financial markets and institutions Ajay Mahajan said, “The rising rupee has posed a question of survival for several exporters, especially belonging to industries which offer lower margins. Hence, it is natural for these players to think of hedging their longer-term exposures. There have been instances of exporters using dollar forwards or currency options like STRIPS to cover positions over a two-to-three year period." For a large part of 2007, the rising rupee had proven to be a nightmarish experience for exporters. The rupee rose by a whopping 11% to the 39.16 level from over 44.25 a year ago. Of late, the Reserve Bank of India has been intervening strongly in the forex market to curb the rupee from growing strong against the greenback. In fact, the Centre had to revise the limit for issuance of bonds under the market stabilisation route several times in 2007, in a bid to soak up the excess foreign inflows.
Dawgs here, brought football weather
I know this is not a travel blog but I trust your opinion (especially on this subject) so I have one more question, we'll be looking for a good place to watch the Duke/UNC game next Saturday night. Thinking about ESPN Club b/c of proximity to stadium. We'll be going straight there after the split squad game at Champions for food etc…BBall game not until 9 so heavy on the "etc." Where's a good place for some married 30 year olds to hang and watch the game after a day at the ball park? .
Superheroes – Fashion and Fantasy
Willhelm's 2006 design of a royal blue dress, for example, features a red and yellow 'S' emblem, characteristic of Superman. Nicolas Ghesquière's extraordinary metallic, articulated "robot" leggings for Balenciaga are reminiscent of Iron Man's skin. Beirendonck's inflatable vinyl clothing can be compared to The Hulk, a metaphor for male potency, and Gaultier's second-skin bodysuits share the streamlined aerodynamics of The Flash. Pugh's techno-gothic, winged and masked costume in metal and Latex, meanwhile, is part of a cybernetic fashion exploration which merges metal, skin, mesh and rubber, in the manner of the X-Men or Batman and an early, web-like gown by Armani has the qualities of a Spiderwoman. Nike's "Swift Suit" and Speedo's "Fastskin Suit" will also illustrate the nature of this superhero who possesses superhuman speed.

Montoya's NASCAR success paves way for new drivers
Montoya had one of the best rookie seasons in recent NASCAR history in 2007. He won a race, ran strong in several others and finished 20th in the Cup standings better than most expected since he was making the difficult transition from open-wheel racing to stock cars. In short, he set a new benchmark for others to follow. There are plenty of followers, too. Fellow open-wheel stars Dario Franchitti, Sam Hornish Jr., Jacques Villeneuve and Patrick Carpentier are making the same jump to NASCAR's top series this season. And they are hoping for similar results. "Juan ended up in the top 20 in points and was Rookie of the Year. If I could do that, that's plenty good for me," Hornish said. .
