Exclusive video: Ross Kemp under fire in Afghanistan

Last year, EastEnders actor turned award-winning journalist Ross Kemp travelled to Afghanistan to live with, travel with, and face fire with British soldiers.

Kemp lived with sand storms, temperatures of over 50ºC and the constant threat of attack from the Taliban to film a documentary about the lives of soldiers for Sky One.

"Conditions in Afghanistan are intolerable," he said. "The heat is stifling and there's the constant threat of snipers, RPG attacks and land mines. During one engagement between B Company and the Taliban we were pinned down by enemy fire in open ground; bullets fizzed by inches from our heads, hitting the ground on either side of us. It was the most frightening experience of my life. I’ve never hugged the ground as tightly as I did when that happened.

SC gives final chance to six states for reply

The trickiest issue relates to the Gorshkov deal that has been hanging fire for more than four years since India agreed to pay $ 1.5 billion for retro-fitting of the aircraft carrier that Russia had initially offered as a gift. The Russians have since been demanding for an additional payment of $ 1.2 billion for the delivery of the aircraft carrier that is going to take at least three more years for delivery.

The Indian side has done some hard talk with the Russians and even dropped hints of adopting enough is enough approach. This would have meant the Russians left with no choice but to keep Gorshkov, rechristened INS Vikramaditya by India, in the Russian Navy.

However, indications are that New Delhi may settle for paying $ 600 million, or half the additional price being demanded by Russia.

Knifeman jailed for terrifying knife attack on teenager

Undy was charged with attempted murder but eventually pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated attempting to cause serious harm.

Judge Simpson said Undy had co-operated with police after giving himself up but could not give a reasonable explanation for the attack.

"You told police you had no idea why you did what you did and asked if you could apologise to the victim," she said.

Undy, who suffers agoraphobia and panic attacks, was suicidal and had been drinking in the hours leading up to the incident.

The 48-year-old had eight prior convictions for assault.

Undy will be eligible for parole after serving three and a half years behind bars.

Ms Utting said she was happy with the sentence, which she described as "fair".
